Concert in Honor of the Centenary of the Republic of Latvia

In honor of the centenary of the Republic of Latvia a sacred music concert was performed on Wednesday, 27 June 2018 at 9.00 pm by the Latvia choir "State Choir Latvija" in the Basilica of Saint Ignatius of Loyola in Campo Marzio.
The choir is composed of 52 singers and together with the organist Iveta Apkalna performed in the Basilica in Piazza di Sant’Ignazio, in the center of Rome.
The choir is the largest professional choir of the Baltic states, since 1997 the artistic director is Maestro Māris Sirmais.
The concert program included works by Latvian composers Pēteris Vasks, riks Ešenvalds and Georgs Pelēcis and great European compositions of Giuseppe Verdi, Anton Bruckner, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and others.
