Christian Thielemann, conductor of the 7-year Bruckner cycle, organized by the Roman Fondazione Pro Musica e Arte Sacra in honor of the Austrian composer Anton Bruckner on the occasion of his 200th birthday, has to cancel his participation in the concert on September 14, 2019 due to scheduling reasons. 

Daniel Froschauer, Chairman of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, announces that the planned program, the concert of Bruckner’s Symphony No.3, will be carried out later with Christian Thielemann in Rome. The Fondazione Pro Musica e Arte Sacra undertakes to promptly communicate the new date of the concert.

As the organizer of the XVIII INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF SACRED MUSIC AND ART in Rome and the Vatican, which takes place from 14 to 18 September 2019 and in which the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra is “in residence”, the Fondazione Pro Musica e Arte Sacra can nevertheless offer its audience an attractive alternative program with the Vienna Philharmonic. The concertmaster of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Rainer Honeck, will lead the orchestra from the podium in the Papal Basilica of St. Paul outside the walls. The

program features Joseph Haydn’s “The Seven Last Words of Our Saviour on the Cross”.
